Rattin - Burrow Predator | Eternal Ascendance
Rattin
Rattin are small burrow-dwelling predators found throughout the Forest of Wrath.
They are common within the region and exist as part of the lower predator layer.
Their bodies are lean and built for quick movement and digging. A Rattin typically reaches a shoulder height of around 60 to 70 cm. Their frame is compact, supported by strong limbs suited for movement through soil. Their teeth are sharp and adapted for biting and crushing.
Rattin live primarily underground.
They dig tunnels and nests beneath the forest floor and move between the surface and their burrows depending on activity. Much of their movement remains hidden below ground, making them difficult to track.
They are omnivores.
Rattin feed on plant matter, hunt smaller creatures, and consume anything they are capable of overpowering.
Their physical ability is notable for their size.
Their bite is strong enough to break stone, and minor injuries close quickly. Their bodies recover from damage over short periods of time. These are natural traits rather than controlled abilities.
Rattin do not use elemental mana.
Instead, mana is used only to strengthen their bodies and support healing and recovery. They do not project or shape elements.
By default, Rattin are cautious.
They avoid direct conflict when possible and tend to attack only when they detect weakness. Their approach relies on quick strikes rather than prolonged fights. They judge potential targets based on aura, which can lead to misjudgment when a target appears weak but is not.
Rattin are dangerous within their size range.
Their bite can cause significant damage, their speed allows rapid engagement, and their ability to move through burrows makes them difficult to corner. However, they are less effective against stronger or well-prepared opponents.
Within the Forest of Wrath, they function as lower-layer predators.
They control smaller creature populations, recycle organic matter, and maintain pressure within their level of the ecosystem. They exist as a natural part of the forest’s system.
Rattin — Enraged State
Rattin can enter a heightened state during combat.
This may occur when they are injured, when they sense blood, or when they are forced into direct confrontation.
In this state, their movement becomes faster and their attacks become more frequent. Their behavior shifts toward direct aggression, and they are less likely to withdraw once engaged.
Their physical form does not change. Only their behavior and intensity increase.
