Aetherem— The Primordial of Absolute Descent
Aetherem
Aetherem is a Primordial of Xylos, a colossal avian entity formed through true creation during the planet’s earliest eras of instability. Like all Primordials, Aetherem was not a god, a ruler, or a conscious architect of the world. He is a consequence of Xylos’s formation—a being that achieved coherence once the planet could no longer sustain uncontrolled excess.
Aetherem possesses a fully realized physical form. His body is vast beyond conventional scale, yet rarely perceived in entirety. His wings are not symbolic appendages but structures of absolute dominance, capable of eclipsing entire regions of sky through presence alone. Damage inflicted upon Aetherem is real and permanent, and his interaction with the world leaves lasting scars upon atmosphere, terrain, and mana flow.
Nature of Existence
Aetherem embodies descent.
Not flight, freedom, or ascension—but the inevitability of force arriving from beyond engagement. His existence imposes authority through position rather than pursuit. He does not chase, encircle, or surround. When Aetherem acts, the world beneath him becomes irrelevant to the outcome.
This authority is not derived from speed, though his movement exceeds mortal perception. Nor is it derived from fear or domination. It arises from distance so absolute that resistance cannot meaningfully occur before resolution.
Stellar Eclipse
When Aetherem unfurls his wings, the sky darkens.
This is not shadow, obstruction, or atmospheric distortion. The sun does not dim—it ceases to matter. During these moments, Aetherem asserts himself as the dominant energetic authority within the region. Stellar output is not blocked or drained; it is temporarily overridden, redirected into Aetherem's own coherence.
The atmosphere darkens because light is no longer released outward.
For mortals, this event has been described as an eclipse. For scholars, it is recorded as a replacement.
Annihilative Expression
The energy Aetherem releases is not elemental.
It is not fire, light, heat, mana, or plasma. It is stellar energy stripped of expression and combined directly with Primordial life force before collapse into form. This energy manifests as pure white annihilation, erasing matter without transition.
Targets struck do not burn, fracture, or explode.
They cease to remain coherent.
This annihilation does not travel in a conventional sense. It may descend from above, erupt from below, strike from the horizon, or resolve from within a target’s own structure. The energy cannot be sensed prior to manifestation. There is no warning, no buildup, and no detectable intent.
Only other Primordials can perceive Aetherem in motion when such expressions occur.
Presence and Effect
The presence of Aetherem exerts overwhelming pressure upon living systems.
This pressure is not fear, intimidation, or psychic assault. It is assessment through proximity. Life force exposed to Aetherem's awareness is forced into coherence. Beings unable to withstand this scrutiny often lose consciousness without injury, overwhelmed by the impossibility of concealment.
Aetherem does not judge, select, or target.
He observes.
Role Within Xylos
Aetherem does not guard territory, pursue conflict, or involve himself in prolonged struggles. His appearance is rare and decisive, occurring only when outcomes have escalated beyond containment or endurance.
Where Dragons preserve stability and Viperix resolves uncertainty, Aetherem enforces finality through arrival alone.
He does not remain.
After acting, Aetherem withdraws beyond perception, leaving behind only absence, silence, and irreversible change.
Legacy
Aetherem is remembered not as a conqueror, but as an event.
Skies that went dark without storm.
Regions erased without destruction.
Battles ended without conflict.
He did not rule the world.
He descended upon it—
and the world yielded.
